Program Topic: Business Interruption Insurance Claims Litigation and the Role of Captives
Speaker: Jonathan Reid Reich, Womble Bond Dickinson
Jonathan Reich is an insurance and class action lawyer in the Winston-Salem office of Womble Bond Dickinson, a trans-Atlantic, AmLaw 100 firm. He was on the Board of Directors of the North Carolina Captive Insurance Association. He has also been on the governing Council of the Insurance Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association. He also co-authored Womble's "Insurance Desk Reference" and co-founded Womble's insurance law blog.
Jonathan has defended captive insurers from claims by policyholders and has been involved in amicus practice for the captive insurance industry. He has counseled policyholders, brokers, managing general agents, carriers, and reinsurers regarding insurance coverage and claims in North Carolina. He regularly litigates insurance coverage, first-party bad faith, extra-contractual claims, errors and omissions, and failure to procure claims. He has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America in the fields of both Insurance Law and Class Actions. He is currently leading the defense of 5 class actions and involved in the defense of 5 others. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his law degree from Duke University.
