On behalf of the Arizona Captive Insurance Association I am announcing the cancellation of our March 18, 2020 breakfast meeting. We feel we must do all that we can to ensure a safe and healthy environment, which at this time means minimizing gatherings that could inadvertently compromise ours members health. We plan to offer the next breakfast meeting in September.

Our March breakfast meeting features Part Two of a presentation on the most dynamic issue facing property and casualty insurers today: climate change. Climate change presents systemic risk factors which could lead to capital adequacy and other challenges for insurers. Recent reports – such as the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Summary for Policymakers issued October 8, 2018, to the World Economic Forum’s Global Risk Report issued January 15, 2019 – demonstrate that the insurance industry needs to plan for the manner in which climate risk could have a serious impact on the way their insured companies operate.
Come to our breakfast to hear a renowned climate change scientist, Dr. Nicholas McKay. The work of Dr. McKay contributes to a better understanding of climate change and how we may prepare for and adapt to these changes.
Dr. Nicholas McKay is an Assistant Professor of climate science at Northern Arizona University. A lifelong Arizonan, he holds a Ph.D. in Geoscience from the University of Arizona, and researches how and why climate changes throughout the world both now, and in the past. He teaches multiple classes on climate change, climate analysis, and data science and analysis. Dr. McKay’s work is widely published and cited to.
